Residents living in the West of Ely may soon benefit from the intervention of the District Council to compete the paths and landscaping to the city’s western gateway.

The strip of land along the A10 bypass leading to the roundabout with the A142 has split ownership between the Council and the developer – the Kier Group. The Council received Section 106 funds to cover some but not all of the costs to carry out and maintain the open space.

Recycling can banks temporarily removed

Reference:

078/11

Date:

07/07/2011

Recycling can banks are to be temporarily removed from recycling points in East Cambridgeshire.

The short-term move follows the withdrawal of the service by the authority’s contractor and the additional cost to the Council to get them emptied by a third party prior to the service being re-tendered.

The can banks will be removed over the next two weeks but residents will still be able to recycle cans via their kerbside collections which collect over 175 tonnes of metal a year equivalent to over 88 per cent of metal collections in the district.
