The Mature & Active tea dances are growing in popularity so why not put on some dancing shoes and join in the fun this autumn.

The dances are aimed at anyone over 55 and are held at the Ely Beet Sports & Social Club on Lynn Road, Ely on the 7 October, 4 November and 2 December.

The music and dancing begins at 2pm until 4pm, it only costs only 3.50 and there is tea, coffee and biscuits served to everyone who attends.

Shop fronts should not be taken for granted

Shop owners and businesses are being reminded that they must speak to the Planning Department should they decide to change their front of their premises.

The warning comes after a number of cases in recent months where the Council has had to take action after companies changed their shop fronts without planning permission in conservation areas.

Apples are set to be identified, peeled, shied, squashed, drank, carried and consumed as the Apple Festival returns to Ely next weekend.

Visitors to Palace Green in Ely on Saturday 15 October between 10am – 4pm will be able to learn all they need to know about the great tradition of English Apples and find out how they are making a comeback in homes across the country.

A thousand people help shape their future

Over 1,000 people have come forward with their ideas for their village and community as part of a consultation on the future of East Cambridgeshire.

In June, the authority asked local people who live and work around the district to tell them how, in the years ahead, they would like their towns and villages to look and improve.

Conserving Little Downham for the future

People living and working in Little Downham in East Cambridgeshire are being given the chance to have their say on the village’s conservation area this autumn.

The opportunity follows a decision at the Development and Transport sub committee at East Cambridgeshire District Council to approve a consultation on Little Downham’s ‘Character Appraisal and Boundary Review’.

The consultation will take place this autumn and will include a exhibition for people to come along and give their views.
