50 homes have been kept snug and warm

The Warm Homes, Healthy People project in East Cambridgeshire has helped over 50 households in the district with discounted boiler servicing and emergency repairs to heating systems.

The project, a joint initiative between East Cambridgeshire District Council and Care and Repair, received £10,000 of funding from the Department of Health’s Warm Homes, Healthy People Fund and had aimed to help 40 households before the end of March.

East Cambridgeshire District Council is looking to appoint an ‘Independent Person’ to help councillors throughout the district keep to the highest of standards.

Under the provisions of the Localism Act 2011, the authority must appoint an ‘Independent Person’ to assist the District Council in promoting and maintaining high standards of conduct amongst its elected Members and Town and Parish Councillors.

Deal close to bring multiplex cinema to Ely

East Cambridgeshire District Council is in advanced talks to bring a new cinema development to Ely.

Following a public consultation last year, land at the junction of Downham Road/A10 was identified as the best place to build a multiplex cinema.

The Council is now in detailed talks with a national developer to bring forward detailed plans for planning consent by the end of the year.

The Cromwells are going green

This Easter, visitors to Oliver Cromwell House can discover how the building’s famous residents used their greenfingers to feed their family.

In the ‘Meet the Cromwells’ sessions between 11am to 1pm on 2 April, 6 April, 9 April and 13 April, people will hear about Mrs Cromwell’s vegetable and herb gardens, how she used her unusual ingredients and what was in her Grand Salad.

No change to recycling and waste collections this Easter

Residents in East Cambridgeshire will not have to worry about changes to their waste and recycling collections over the Easter holiday.

East Cambridgeshire District Council, working with their contractors Veolia Environmental Services, has agreed collections will take place as normal throughout the Easter holidays.
