Helping the Country Park to be a place to enjoy

Councillors, police officers and firefighters were among a host of organisations who were in Ely’s Country Park yesterday (Thursday 30 May) as part of a multi-agency action evening.

The aim of the visit was to look at ways to ensure the Country Park and the Roswell Pit area remains a safe and pleasant place to visit.

Ely Markets bids farewell to a stalwart

Long standing trader Nigel Graver has retired from Ely Markets after 23 years serving on his stall on Ely’s Thursday and Saturday markets.

Nigel has kept his customers well fed through the many lovely cakes, biscuits and provisions which have been the staple of his products over the years.

On his last day, Nigel had many loyal customers coming to see him wishing him well for the future.

New Cromwellian House Guides to bring Lord Protector

Eight new Oliver Cromwell House Tour Guides have officially graduated this month and are set to help visitors to Ely learn more about the history of Cromwell and the civil war.

The new people come from a range of backgrounds from lawyers to teachers to librarian and worked hard over the last three months to learn how to be official Oliver Cromwell’s House Tour Guides.
