Lis Every has been elected to represent the Ely East ward at East Cambridgeshire District Council.

The count began just after 10pm, once the ballot boxes had arrived, and the result was declared at 11.25pm

Following the meeting of the Planning Committee at East Cambridgeshire District Council, the following decisions were made:

1. Creation of wetland grass habitat site, below-ground water storage lake, public car park, re-profiling and diversion of drainage channels and installation of water control structures at the Ouse Washes Habitat Creation, New Bedford River, Coveney. The applicant is: Environment Agency

Ely is a place steeped in history and blessed with a rich and diverse set of buildings which will be celebrated at this year’s Heritage Weekend Programme from Friday 13 to Sunday 15 September.

A series of events have been organised by the Tourist Information Office at Oliver Cromwell House to form part of East Cambridgeshire’s contribution to the national programme.

New service set to begin while wheelie bin roll out continues

The new recycling service in East Cambridgeshire is set to begin next week (w/c 9 September) for all those homes who have received their wheelie bins this week.

This means all households in Lode, Longmeadow, Mepal, Stretham, Wilburton and Witcham as well as certain streets in Bottisham, Ely and Fordham should put out their blue lidded bins on their collection day.
