This December, Oliver Cromwell House is inviting visitors to a special ‘Puritan Christmas Party’.

The event on Saturday 19 December from 2pm, will offer a glimpse at what Puritans got up to at this time of the year and see how families celebrated behind closed doors.  

This guided tour will provide the answer as to whether Cromwell really did ban Christmas and allow visitors to learn when the Christmas traditions celebrated today were first introduced.

Recycling rates in East Cambs keep getting better

Residents in East Cambridgeshire are continuing to help the district to climb the league tables after another stellar year of recycling.

The Department for Environment Food & Rural Affairs has announced the recycling performance for English councils during 2014/15 and for the second year running East Cambridgeshire was the third most improved area with an increase of 11.2% from 2013/14.

Looking for land in Witchford

As Community Land Trusts (CLTs) in East Cambridgeshire continuing to move forward, the recently established Witchford CLT is now looking for land to develop.

The CLT, which was set up by residents to help house local people and deliver facilities for the benefit of the community has recently undertaken a review of the land they are know is available.

However the CLT is aware there may be other sites which could be suitable but don’t know about its availability.

Notice of Vacancy: District Ward – Bottisham

A notice of vacancy has been issued for the District Ward of Bottisham.

The notice follows the resignation of Councillor Vince Campbell from the District Council who was elected in May this year.

To call an election to replace Cllr Campbell, a request must be made in writing to the District Council by two electors for the District in order to set the election process in motion.
