Result for the Parish of Ely – North Ward by-election

On Thursday 06 October 2016, voters in took to the polls to vote in the Parish of Ely – North Ward By-Election.

 

Polling stations nationwide opened at 7am and closed at 10pm.

The count venue was the Council Chamber, East Cambridgeshire District Council.

The turnout was announced as 16.17%. 

At 23.03pm, the Returning Officer, John Hill, declared the count totals, which are as follows: 

 

The total number of ballot paper counted was 855

The number of votes cast in favour of Edward Bengt Carlsson Browne (Labour Party) – 179

Police & Crime Commissioner Election – Candidates named in Cambridgeshire

Seven candidates have put themselves forward to become the Police and Crime Commissioner for Cambridgeshire.

The candidates were nominated between Monday 8 October and noon today (Friday 19 October).

The Police & Crime Commissioner Election will be taking place on Thursday 15 November with the count and the result declared on Friday 16 November.

Conservatives returned to power

The Conservatives have been returned as East Cambridgeshire District Council’s ruling party with a majority of 11.

Following the count the District Council is now made up of 25 Conservative, 10 Liberal Democrat and 4 Independent Councillors.
