Prudent budget set for East Cambridgeshire

Councillors in East Cambridgeshire last night (Thursday 27 February) agreed a council tax freeze as they approved a balanced budget for 2014/15.

Despite the financial pressure created by the on-going reduction in the support grant from Central Government, the success of the District Council’s medium term financial strategy has allowed the Council to freeze the part of the council tax they are responsible for.

Councillor Tony Cornell, Chairman of East Cambridgeshire District Council, said: “As we celebrate the festive holidays, I like to look back on what has been another busy year for us all.

More money set to help make homes accessible

East Cambridgeshire District Council has received nearly £50,000 to go towards the authority’s Disabled Facilities Grant Fund as part of £40million payment from the Government.

The extra £49,408 means the Council will have a total of £479,178 to allocate this financial year and next year to help anyone who is disabled and needs improvements or adaptations made to their home to improve their quality of life.
