Working to deliver future growth despite financial pressures

Members at East Cambridgeshire District Council have heard proposals to ensure that despite the financial pressures facing the authority, the district can continue to prepare for future growth.

As the Council works to find 2.6 million in savings having received cuts of 28 per cent for the next two years in its main Government Grant, the authority is using innovative ways to continue the Masterplan process and ensure communities benefit from developments in the area.

East Cambridgeshire – becoming the place to do business

New unemployment figures and news that the Ely area is to benefit from faster broadband continues to show East Cambridgeshire as the place firms are coming to do business.

Last week, official labour market statistics claimants for Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) have fallen to 922 – the lowest level since Dec 2008. With just 1.7 per cent of the population in East Cambridgeshire now claiming JSA, the district has third lowest rate in the region.
