Pip, pip, pip – the countdown to Ely’s Apple Festival has begun

Every year nearly 70 million tonnes of apples are produced throughout the world firmly establishing the Malus domestica – to give the apple it’s Latin name – as one of our favourite foods.

To celebrate our love for the humble fruit, East Cambridgeshire District Council and Watergull Orchards are organising the twelfth Ely Apple Festival.

Visitors to Palace Green in Ely on Saturday 20 October between 10am – 4pm will be able to take part in a whole host of events such as:

Apples are set to be identified, peeled, shied, squashed, drank, carried and consumed as the Apple Festival returns to Ely next weekend.

Visitors to Palace Green in Ely on Saturday 15 October between 10am – 4pm will be able to learn all they need to know about the great tradition of English Apples and find out how they are making a comeback in homes across the country.
