Working together to tackle fraud across the county

Local authorities across Cambridgeshire have successfully bid for extra Government money to pilot a stronger and more coordinated approach to detecting and fighting fraud.  

The Cambridgeshire Anti-Fraud Network (CAFN) brings together the five District Councils in Cambridgeshire plus the County Council to work together to identify local and cross-boundary fraud.

East Cambridgeshire District Council has ambitious plans for a new Local Authority Trading Company (LATC) and is seeking a forward thinking and dynamic leader to become the Company’s Chairman.

The LATC is a key part of the development of a more commercial approach at the Council as the authority looks at alternative ways of generating income to mitigate loss of Local Government funding from Westminster.

Disappointing news on Soham rail but Councils continue station push

With Network Rail putting on hold plans to double a section of rail track Ely and Soham, local Councils are determined this decision will not hold up their work on developing the business case for a new Soham Railway Station.
 
Cambridgeshire County Council and East Cambridgeshire District Council had been pushing for the much needed capacity improvements to the rail track which would help freight and the local economy.
