Consultation begins on Council Tax benefits changes

Changes are coming for all those who claim Council Tax benefits and everyone in East Cambridgeshire is getting the chance to have their say.

The Government is abolishing the national scheme for Council Tax Benefit. In its place
Councils are required to develop their own local council tax support scheme. As part of this change, the Government will no longer fully fund the new scheme, but will  reduce the  money it gives councils to pay these benefits by 10 per cent.

Planning the future of Ely’s traffic

Feedback from residents, local groups and businesses as helped to build a picture of the developing transport needs of Ely.

Over the last few months, an online survey, market stall and stakeholder event has helped to outline a number of the issues which people have suggested need to be tackled if the city is to thrive. These include:

* Tackling the road congestion at the Ely Railway Crossing

* Changing the culture of the city away from the reliance on cars
