Central Government makes East Cambs District Council new host of national housing programme

The incredible turnaround of East Cambridgeshire’s Housing Options team has led to them being named the new host of a national housing programme.

The National Practitioner Support Service (NPSS) programme is funded by Central Government via the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG), and was previously hosted by Winchester City Council.

Benefit Fraud is a crime which affects us all

With a local resident being sentenced to a 12 month Community Order for benefit fraud, officers at East Cambridgeshire District Council are hoping the sentence will act as a deterrent to others.

Paul Day, 53, from Littleport pleaded guilty to falsely claiming Housing and Council Tax Benefit totalling £17732.22 at Cambridge Magistrates Court.

Transforming the housing service in East Cambs

A drive to improve the Housing Service in East Cambridgeshire has seen an increase in the number of people saved from homelessness and a dramatic fall in the number of families being placed in Bed & Breakfasts.

The team, which was part of a review last year to reduce the amount of money spent on temporary accommodation, have taken a proactive, preventive approach to helping residents in the district who are in trouble.
