Developing a balanced budget for the future

Community Land Trusts, apprenticeships and measures to tackle homelessness are just some of the issues Councillors in East Cambridgeshire will discuss as part of proposals to develop a balanced budget.

The District Council is in the third year of a medium term financial strategy which will deliver savings of over £2 million pounds by 2015. This requires the Council to reduce administration costs, increase some fees and freeze or defer recruitment to vacant posts.

Uncovering the impact of migrants in East Cambridgeshire

Work to understand the impact of migrant workers, the issues they face and how to support them in the future has been revealed in East Cambridgeshire.

A report into the work undertaken by the Migration Impacts Fund Project in East Cambridgeshire uncovered problems such as housing and language barriers but also ways to resolve the issues.

When the project began in 2010, it aimed to carry out research on the impact of migration, private housing conditions and the effect on communities.

Drop in to have your say on Burwell’s future

Those who live and work in the village are invited to have their say on its future at a special drop-in event in the village this Saturday (24 September).

The event at the Gardiner Memorial Hall in Burwell from 9.30am to 3.30pm is part of the Issues Stage Public Consultation which aims to hear from as many local people, community groups and businesses as possible to establish what needs to be taken into account as the Masterplan moves forward.
