On Saturday 14 February, shoppers, residents and visitors will have the chance to show their love for one of Ely’s most favourite markets.

This year it’s Ely Farmers’ Market’s 15th birthday – to be celebrated on Saturday 27 June. To mark the occasion, people are being asked to give their memories of the market on special blackboards to use in the summer celebrations.

The memories can be about the early days of the Farmers’ Market or can delve further back into the past to highlight what markets in Ely used to be like in the previous decades.

Work to develop a new way of funding major projects in East Cambridgeshire has been approved this week by Full Council.

The Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) will, from February 2013, be the main way of securing developer contributions towards the delivery of infrastructure and services which growth requires.

The District Council is the 11th authority in the country to implement CIL as they replace, in a majority of cases, the previous complex ‘Section 106’ negotiations and agreements
