Council warns of even tougher times ahead

With the Government preparing its emergency budget to tackle the nation’s budget deficit, local authorities are yet again bracing themselves for difficult decisions.

In East Cambridgeshire, the District Council heard last week its revenue grant would remain at just over £6million but with over £1.6 billion taken out of local government this year, the authority is mindful that tough choices may lie ahead.

Homes in Soham no longer need to be empty

Owners of empty homes in Soham can now take advantage of a project that has brought life back into empty homes in Littleport.

Launched last year, the Empty Homes Project has assisted with the renovation of five empty homes in the Littleport area and is committed to bringing a further four homes back into use over the next 12 months. This has been achieved with grants and interest free loans worth over £160,000.
