Don’t miss out on registering to vote

Residents throughout Cambridgeshire and Peterborough are being reminded there are less than ten days left to register to vote in the first ever Police and Crime Commissioner elections taking place next month.

With the deadline to register to vote on Wednesday 31 October 2012, anyone who has not yet registered should contact the electoral registration officer at their local council or visit www.aboutmyvote.co.uk to download a form.

Want help cleaning up your neighbourhood

Communities looking to clean up their local area in East Cambridgeshire can call on the District Council for all the equipment they need to do the work.

The Waste and Recycling team have kits of rubbish bags, gloves, litter pickers and high visibility jackets available for Parish Councils, voluntary organisations and community groups to use.

In recent months areas of Soham, Wicken and Fordham have all benefitted from local people coming together to tidy up commons, cemeteries and play areas.

Have your say on infrastructure consultation

East Cambridgeshire District Council is reminding residents, developers and businesses to have their say on a consultation to set the future charging levels of the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL).

CIL, which is to replace Section 106 agreements as the main way of securing developer contributions towards the delivery of infrastructure and services which growth requires, is a fixed charge.

The current consultation will help to determine how much developers will need to pay for any of their developments in various parts of the East Cambridgeshire.
