As many as 150 people turned out to see the lighting of the Queen’s Birthday Beacon in Burwell last Thursday (21 April).

The celebrations, organised by East Cambridgeshire District Council in conjunction with Burwell Parish Council, began with the ringing of St Mary’s church bells.

This was followed by a superb performance from the Burwell Community Choir, who sung beautifully by The Guildhall in their black outfits and blue scarves, covering a range of songs from Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) by Shakira to Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon and Garfunkel.
