Consultation Shows Support for Devolution

Wed, 09/07/2016

Councillors have welcomed the outcome of a public consultation on proposals to devolve power and hundreds of millions of pounds of funding from Westminster to Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

The consultation was launched in July and finished in August. It included a proportionally representative Ipsos MORI phone poll of 2,280 residents as well as an online survey which 1,500 people completed, plus comments from business, community groups, parish councils and other organisations.

The scale of the response has surpassed similar consultations in other devolution areas.

What did happen to Oliver Cromwell’s body?

Tue, 01/21/2014

This January, Oliver Cromwell House will be the place to learn about what really happened to the former Lord Protector’s beheaded corpse.

‘Cromwell’s Talking Head’ on Thursday 30 January at 2pm, visitors to the tourist venue will be taken on a guided tour of the House followed by a dramatic monologue from Norfolk author Gareth Calway.

Gareth will explain how the body was buried in the manner of a king only to be exhumed after the Restoration to be hung, drawn and quartered with the head put on the traitor’s pole over Westminster Hall for 25 years.
