Jubilee Gardens celebrates 10 years

Ely’s Jubilee Gardens is celebrating its 10th birthday this week.

The Gardens were opened by HRH the Duke of Edinburgh on 11 February 2002 to celebrate the Golden Jubilee year of HM Queen Elizabeth II.

Over the years, the impressive Jubilee Gardens have become a part of Ely with it’s beautiful riverside setting and magnificent Cathedral backdrop.

A thousand people help shape their future

Over 1,000 people have come forward with their ideas for their village and community as part of a consultation on the future of East Cambridgeshire.

In June, the authority asked local people who live and work around the district to tell them how, in the years ahead, they would like their towns and villages to look and improve.

Planning for the future of waste and recycling

Members and Officers at East Cambridgeshire District Council are preparing to review their current waste collection and street cleansing services.

Over the next four years, the Council will be looking at different options to deliver the most efficient service possible while meeting the directives laid down by the European Union which includes reintroducing plastic by 2015 and achieving a recycling rate of 50 per cent by 2020.
